DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Family Litter Pick at Beech Hill Park\, Gidlow Lane\, on Sunday 8th February – starting at 11am and help care for this local green space. \nThis is a fun\, family-friendly event where everyone can get involved in making a positive difference. \nThere will also be a prize for the group or family that collects the most litter! A £40 voucher for Omniplex Cinema! \nAll litter picking equipment will be provided\, so just dress for the weather. \nWe will also have refreshments available. \nAccompanied children are very welcome\, and it is a great way to show young people how small actions can have a big impact on the local environment. \nYou can keep the equipment afterwards to continue the good work \nThis event is funded by the National Lottery as part of a year-long programme of family environmental events in Wigan Borough\, helping us support community action and care for local green spaces.\nEvent organised and facilitated by The Community Patch CIC \nBeech Hill Park\, Gidlow Lane\, Wigan\, WN6 8RQ \nAny questions\, please email us on hello@giveitagrowwigan.co.uk

SUMMARY:Planting an Orchard in Diggle Street Park - NEW DATE
DESCRIPTION:Help us create a new orchard for all the community to enjoy!\nCome and help us plant the new orchard over at Diggle Street Park \nPlease note\, new date is 14th Feb  \nThe Orchard Project and The Community Patch CIC have received some funding to make this possible. There will be lots more events and sessions in the future\, including learning all about how to take care of the new orchard. \nThis will be a practical\, hands-on day as we plant the new trees in the ground. Some of the tasks will be quite physical including barrowing woodchip\, digging the ground with spades and using a tool to drive posts in. \nOther tasks will be less physical\, including placing the trees in their new homes and creating a map. Please come along for the enjoyment of coming together with the community\, even if you’re not planting the trees! And feel free to ask us any questions. \nPlease dress appropriately for the weather and wear outdoor shoes. SUMMARY:Gardening Together Sunday Session
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the community garden on the last Sunday of each month for our weekend session – 12 – 3pm\, for some company and gentle movement in the outdoors. \nAt the community garden\, we tend to several raised beds\, borders\, a greenhouse\, fruit trees\, and a wildlife pond together. We grow all kinds of fruit and veg\, and there is often produce or plants to take home at the end of a session. \nThere are always plenty of different jobs to do and things to learn. Anyone is welcome to attend – just show up\, there’s no need to book\, and no skills are required as all training and tools are provided. \nChildren and families are always welcome. We’ve got garden toys and always invite young people to join in with planting and garden jobs if they want. \nPlease dress for the weather – sessions always go ahead unless it’s pouring with rain. SUMMARY:Step Into Nature - Guided Woodland Walk
DESCRIPTION:Our free monthly guided woodland walk – Step Into Nature.  \nThe next walk together is on 27th Feb\, 10am at Scott Lane Bridge carpark WN6 7NL  It will be led by Victoria – we’ll gently enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful area \nStarting in Springfield this month\, we’ll explore the local canal path for an accessible walk. This is pram friendly\, wheelchair friends and generally easier on the legs overall\, a perfect way to get outdoors\, meet new friends\, and discover hidden corners of our local green spaces. The walk is approximately 2 miles long and is free to attend. \nThe surface is flat\, but dress for the weather. \nIt will usually be the 4th Friday of each month at 10am. The starting point may alter very slightly month to month\, but we will make sure to update you. \nBooking is preferred\, but not necessary. It’s just so we know to wait for you.
