The Community Patch CIC and The Orchard Project would like to invite you to come and have an informal chat with us about what sort of fruit trees you would like to see in your park\, and help us to design a brand new community orchard.\n\nBased on your designs\, the orchard will then be planted early next year\, and we hope you can join us for this too!\n\nWe will have pens and paper and welcome all ages to come and get creative in dreaming up what the orchard will look like. SUMMARY:Step Into Nature - Guided Woodland Walk
DESCRIPTION:Our free monthly guided woodland walk – Step Into Nature. Please note the date has changed due to it landing on boxing day (this is December’s walk!) \nThe next walk together is on 2nd Jan\, 10am at Beech Hill Park\, Gidlow Lane\, WN6 8RQ  and will be led by Victoria – we’ll gently enjoy the sights and sounds of these beautiful woodlands and farmland through the seasons. \nStarting in Beech Hill this month\, we’ll explore local woodlands\, a perfect way to get outdoors\, meet new friends\, and discover hidden corners of our local green spaces. The walk is approximately 2 miles along with some uneven paths and steps\, and is free to attend. \nIt is muddy\, and we don’t mind a bit of rain\, so dress for the weather! Wellies recomended \nIt will usually be the 4th Friday of each month at 10am. The starting point may alter very slightly month to month\, but we will make sure to update you. \nBooking is preferred\, but not necessary. It’s just so we know to wait for you. DESCRIPTION:Join Ali for a calming New Year workshop at The Old Courts on 15th January at 6pm\, discovering the world of winter herbs and traditions. \nThis nature based herbal session focuses on January themes of grounding\, cleansing and setting yourself up well for the year ahead.  \nYou will make your own smudge sticks with sage and other local herbs\, an important and traditional calming activity that symbolises a new start. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun workshop all about how we can help care for British wildlife during these cold winter months.  On 27th Jan at St Anne’s Community Centre\, in Beech Hill\, Wigan\, Victoria and Ali will be leading this hands-on workshop\, where we’ll look at everyday animals such as birds\, hedgehogs\, and more\, as well as the littlest creatures like insects. Together\, we’ll explore their habitats and needs during winter and share ways we can help support them. \n  \nRecommended age is 8+ (children must be accompanied)\, it’s suitable for families and adults who are interested in learning more. DESCRIPTION:Help us create a new orchard for all the community to enjoy!\nCome and help us plant the new orchard over at Diggle Street Park \nPlease note\, new date is 14th Feb  \nThe Orchard Project and The Community Patch CIC have received some funding to make this possible. There will be lots more events and sessions in the future\, including learning all about how to take care of the new orchard. \nThis will be a practical\, hands-on day as we plant the new trees in the ground. Some of the tasks will be quite physical including barrowing woodchip\, digging the ground with spades and using a tool to drive posts in. \nOther tasks will be less physical\, including placing the trees in their new homes and creating a map. Please come along for the enjoyment of coming together with the community\, even if you’re not planting the trees! And feel free to ask us any questions. \nPlease dress appropriately for the weather and wear outdoor shoes. DESCRIPTION:Our free monthly guided woodland walk – Step Into Nature.  \nThe next walk together is on 27th Feb\, 10am at Scott Lane Bridge carpark WN6 7NL  It will be led by Victoria – we’ll gently enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful area \nStarting in Springfield this month\, we’ll explore the local canal path for an accessible walk. This is pram friendly\, wheelchair friends and generally easier on the legs overall\, a perfect way to get outdoors\, meet new friends\, and discover hidden corners of our local green spaces. The walk is approximately 2 miles long and is free to attend. \nThe surface is flat\, but dress for the weather. \nIt will usually be the 4th Friday of each month at 10am. Options will include a soothing anti-allergy tea to calm the immune system\, and a protective balm to trap pollen before you breathe it in. \nA practical\, hands-on workshop to prepare and ease seasonal allergies for you and your family. \nPlease note we will be using a heat and pouring hot liquid at times. DESCRIPTION:Wild Crafts is a new spring programme of fun nature-based creative sessions for families in Wigan.  \nA great way to try something new and creative together – inspired by nature. Some events are drop-in\, some you can book in advance – all are free and suitable for children and adults.  \nJoin Victoria on the 24th March at The Old Courts Community Room for a hands-on leaf printing session using a variety of real leaves to create simple\, fun prints and patterns. \nA relaxed\, creative activity for children and adults alike\, with all materials provided and artwork to take home. \nThis session is also part of Wigan Arts Festival \nAll materials and full guidance are provided. \nFree – booking required\, please book on this page. \nPlease only reserve a space for children attending. DESCRIPTION:Please join us to continue our project in making Diggle Street Park beautiful for people and pollinators.\n\nOn 26th March at 10am\, we’ll start creating our first flower bed in the park\, and we really need your help! SUMMARY:Step Into Nature - Guided Woodland Walk
DESCRIPTION:Our free monthly guided woodland walk – Step Into Nature.  \nThe next walk together is on 27th March\, 10am at Standish wood Lane Lane\, WN6 8RA  and will be led by Victoria – we’ll gently enjoy the sights and sounds of these beautiful woodlands through the seasons. \nStarting in Beech Hill this month\, we’ll explore local woodlands\, a perfect way to get outdoors\, meet new friends\, and discover hidden corners of our local green spaces. The walk is approximately 3 miles along with some uneven paths\, bit of a hill and  few small steps\, and is free to attend. \nIt is muddy\, and we don’t mind a bit of rain\, so dress for the weather! \nIt will be the 4th Friday of each month at 10am. The starting point may alter very slightly month to month\, but we will make sure to update you. \nBooking is preferred\, but not necessary. It’s just so we know to wait for you.
