DESCRIPTION:Our free monthly guided woodland walk – Step Into Nature.  \nThe next walk together is on 27th Feb\, 10am at Scott Lane Bridge carpark WN6 7NL  It will be led by Victoria – we’ll gently enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful area \nStarting in Springfield this month\, we’ll explore the local canal path for an accessible walk. This is pram friendly\, wheelchair friends and generally easier on the legs overall\, a perfect way to get outdoors\, meet new friends\, and discover hidden corners of our local green spaces. The walk is approximately 2 miles long and is free to attend. \nThe surface is flat\, but dress for the weather. \nIt will usually be the 4th Friday of each month at 10am. The starting point may alter very slightly month to month\, but we will make sure to update you. \nBooking is preferred\, but not necessary. It’s just so we know to wait for you. We grow all kinds of fruit and veg\, and there is often produce or plants to take home at the end of a session. \nThere are always plenty of different jobs to do and things to learn. Anyone is welcome to attend – just show up\, there’s no need to book\, and no skills are required as all training and tools are provided. \nChildren are always welcome. We’ve got garden toys and always invite young people to join in with planting and garden jobs if they want. \nPlease dress for the weather – sessions always go ahead unless it’s pouring with rain. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a scriptwriting workshop inspired by nature in the Community Patch community garden on Sunday 19th April 1-3pm.  \nAre you a gardener interested in exploring creative writing? Are you a writer looking to try out new ways of working? Are you a theatre maker who wants to develop your writing skills? \nIn this interactive outdoor workshop\, we will plant seeds\, generate script material inspired by the action of sowing\, create plant inspired characters and write monologues before ending with an opportunity to share the newly sprouted scripts. \nThis creative afternoon will give you a chance to explore new ways of writing alongside planting spring seeds to take home with you. \nBook your place here\nThis creative writing workshop is free for everyone to attend\, thanks to support from The Community Patch and Arts Council England. However\, if you would like to support The Community Patch’s work\, there will be an opportunity to make a donation to the organisation after the workshop. \nIf you have any access requirements please let us know. The workshop is suitable for 14+ however\, under 18s will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. \nThis workshop is part of an Arts Council England funded research and development period for Wigan-born writer and theatre maker\, Laura Atherton. She will be working at The Old Courts the week before to develop her play ‘Spring’\, which is set in a garden and uses nature as an inspiration and metaphor throughout the script. DESCRIPTION:Our free monthly guided woodland walk – Step Into Nature.  \nThe next walk together is on 27th April\, 10am\, starting at Scot Lane Bridge\, WN6 7NL\, and will be led by Victoria – we’ll gently enjoy the sights and sounds of these beautiful woodlands through the seasons – and try something new as we get into spring. \nStarting in Springfield this month\, we’ll walk on the canal and then go for a small forage in local woodlands\, a perfect way to get outdoors\, meet new friends\, and discover hidden corners of our local green spaces. The walk is approximately 3 miles long\, mostly flat but with some uneven ground in parts. \nPlease bring a bag or basket to forage with \nIt is muddy\, and we don’t mind a bit of rain\, so dress for the weather! \nIt will be the 4th Friday of each month at 10am. The starting point may alter very slightly month to month\, but we will make sure to update you. \nBooking is preferred\, but not necessary. It’s just so we know to wait for you. DESCRIPTION:This Bat Walk is a fantastic joint event with the Springfield Beech Hill Gidlow Community and Billinge Bat Rescue. \nPlease join us for our first Beech Hill Bat walk on 27th April at 7:40pm \nStarting just before sunset\, using special detectors so we can hear the bats\, we will listen for echoes and observe bats in their natural habitat in the local woods. \nWe’ll be doing about 1 mile walk. \nThe session will be guided by fantastic H and Michael from Billinge Bat Rescue; they are the true experts! \nThis is free to attend\, but booking is required as spaces are limited.
