SUMMARY:Step Into Nature - Guided Woodland Walk
DESCRIPTION:Our free monthly guided woodland walk – Step Into Nature. Please note the date has changed due to it landing on boxing day (this is December’s walk!) \nThe next walk together is on 2nd Jan\, 10am at Beech Hill Park\, Gidlow Lane\, WN6 8RQ  and will be led by Victoria – we’ll gently enjoy the sights and sounds of these beautiful woodlands and farmland through the seasons. \nStarting in Beech Hill this month\, we’ll explore local woodlands\, a perfect way to get outdoors\, meet new friends\, and discover hidden corners of our local green spaces. The walk is approximately 2 miles along with some uneven paths and steps\, and is free to attend. \nIt is muddy\, and we don’t mind a bit of rain\, so dress for the weather! Wellies recomended \nIt will usually be the 4th Friday of each month at 10am. The starting point may alter very slightly month to month\, but we will make sure to update you. \nBooking is preferred\, but not necessary. It’s just so we know to wait for you. SUMMARY:New Year Herbal Reset Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Ali for a calming New Year workshop at The Old Courts on 15th January at 6pm\, discovering the world of winter herbs and traditions. \nThis nature based herbal session focuses on January themes of grounding\, cleansing and setting yourself up well for the year ahead.  \nYou will make your own smudge sticks with sage and other local herbs\, an important and traditional calming activity that symbolises a new start. Then we’ll explore the uses of dandelion root\, including how to prepare it and why it has been valued in traditional herbal practice.  \nDandelion root may seem unusual\, but it’s a great choice for the new year and very versatile; the tinctures we’ll create during the session can be used in many ways\, from drinks to remedies and more. \nSo if you’re curious about these everyday plants and the history and uses of herbs at this time of year\, please come along and try some hands-on fun in this relaxing\, creative session. \nThere will also be a full bar at the venue with a range of drinks available\, including soft drinks. \nWhat’s included:\n\nSmudge stick and herbal tincture\nFull guidance\, materials & tools\nHandbook to take home\n\nVenue\nThe Holding Cell (Entrance through the Bailiff Bar at the bottom of the building)\, The Old Courts\, Gerrard Winstanley House\, Crawford St\, Wigan WN1 1NA \nTickets\nTickets are £15 pp – by booking online on this page \nPlease note the venue is age 18+ \n  \nRefund Policy \nPlease note\, due to the amount of preparation that goes into our workshops\, we can allow 1 week prior to events for full refunds. DESCRIPTION:Join us at St Anne’s Community Garden in Beech Hill on Sunday 25th January for a relaxed and friendly Seed Swap and Share. \nThis is alongside our regular gardening social group on the last Sunday of the Month. \nA great chance to bring along any spare seeds you have and swap them with others\, and come along and pick up something new to grow\, free. You don’t have to bring seeds; you can just pick some up. \nWe’ll have a good selection of seeds available\, along with some bulbs already sprouting\, ready to be rehomed. SUMMARY:Caring for Winter Wildlife  - Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun workshop all about how we can help care for British wildlife during these cold winter months.  On 27th Jan at St Anne’s Community Centre\, in Beech Hill\, Wigan\, Victoria and Ali will be leading this hands-on workshop\, where we’ll look at everyday animals such as birds\, hedgehogs\, and more\, as well as the littlest creatures like insects. Together\, we’ll explore their habitats and needs during winter and share ways we can help support them. \n  \nRecommended age is 8+ (children must be accompanied)\, it’s suitable for families and adults who are interested in learning more. This is a beginner-friendly session – and you’ll leave with practical tips for actions you can take at home and a guide to keep.  \nWe’ll also make an eco-friendly pine cone bird feeder to take home. \nIf tickets sell out please add yourself to the waiting list to be notified. \nIf you’re booking more than 1 space\, please just add the main details (email etc) to the first attendee\, and only add names for the rest of the tickets. \nThis event is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund as part of a year-long programme of environmental events in Wigan Borough\, helping us support community action and care for local green spaces. \n\nEvent organised and facilitated by The Community Patch CIC \nAny questions\, please email us on hello@giveitagrowwigan.co.uk \n
