We’ve been working away in the community garden, teaching skills for years. And now this Summer, we’re launching a new Path 2 Purpose programme, here to support those currently out of work and looking for a positive next step.
Please join our fully funded, 8-week free course to learn the basics of gardening and horticulture.
We’ll cover a wide range of topics over the weeks with hands-on tasks in each session, giving you a holistic approach to gardening and the skills and confidence to try something new.
We’ll be covering topics such as
Led by Victoria & Ali, this free course is also an opportunity to make new friends and spend time in a beautiful, supportive outdoor space. Gardening together has been shown to improve mental and physical well-being. And we are here to help and support you. Whether you’ve recently been made redundant, or perhaps taken time away to raise a family, or you simply want a fresh start, we welcome everyone.
During the sessions, we’ll also work on other transferable skills such as teamwork, communication, confidence, and planning. We’ll also keep a gardening notebook to track progress and help remember the session content.
Ideally, you’ll need to attend every Thursday morning at the community garden in Beech Hill, Wigan, from 11.30 am to 1pm, from the 18th June through to 6th August – 8 weeks. If you can’t make every single session, that’s ok, please still get in touch.
For each session, all tools, plants, equipment and learning materials are provided; you just need to bring yourself. No experience is needed.
We can also provide a certificate upon completion and a reference for prospective job interviews.
Please note. As part of the Path 2 Purpose programme, you will need to provide your National Insurance number and address details. All details will be kept confidential.
Please fill out the form to register your interest in the programme. Limited spaces are available. You can also ask any questions you have. You may also email us at hello@giveitagrowwigan.co.uk
Your details are safe with us, and we will never share them.
If you want to help Improve where you live in Wigan, for your own well-being and for wildlife, see how you can get involved, we'd love to hear from you.
