Enjoy a scriptwriting workshop inspired by nature in the Community Patch community garden on Sunday 19th April 1-3pm. 

Are you a gardener interested in exploring creative writing? Are you a writer looking to try out new ways of working? Are you a theatre maker who wants to develop your writing skills?

In this interactive outdoor workshop, we will plant seeds, generate script material inspired by the action of sowing, create plant inspired characters and write monologues before ending with an opportunity to share the newly sprouted scripts.

This creative afternoon will give you a chance to explore new ways of writing alongside planting spring seeds to take home with you.

This creative writing workshop is free for everyone to attend, thanks to support from The Community Patch and Arts Council England. However, if you would like to support The Community Patch’s work, there will be an opportunity to make a donation to the organisation after the workshop.

If you have any access requirements please let us know. The workshop is suitable for 14+ however, under 18s will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

This workshop is part of an Arts Council England funded research and development period for Wigan-born writer and theatre maker, Laura Atherton. She will be working at The Old Courts the week before to develop her play ‘Spring’, which is set in a garden and uses nature as an inspiration and metaphor throughout the script.
