I just thought we’d share an update about where we’re at in 2023 and where you can find us if you like to join in gardening with us.
So far this year, we are mainly based at St Anne’s Community Garden on Beech Hill Ave, Wigan.
It’s a great space with plenty of potential. We have worked there in small ways for a couple of years, building a wildlife pond, a wildflower meadow, and a few smaller borders. But now we’re working on the rest of the garden, including the vegetable beds. So that’s exciting!
We’ll also be continuing with our goal and using part of the space as a nursery so that we can grow flowers to distribute to other groups and areas.
We are there every other Wednesday from about 9:45 am, though Ali usually arrives a bit earlier, and I am typically a little late. It’s a friendly session, and we’ve had loads of positive feedback from volunteers, especially regarding mental health and feeling connected with nature. It’s been really lovely so far, so don’t feel shy, just come along.

We’re also there with the fantastic Springfield beech Hil Gidlow Community Group on the last Sunday of the month from 12 pm for a bigger group session.

We won’t be there if there is a special celebration like Easter / Christmas. And on the rare occasion we can’t make a regular date, we will post on social media as soon as possible. A bit of rain won’t put us off, but a downpour might! So be dressed for whatever the weather throws at us.
You are welcome to come to any of these sessions; they are always beginner friendly, and we work on various tasks, improving the space for us and wildlife.
And if you can’t join us for any reason but like our work, then you can also consider donating. The money we receive helps towards seeds, compost, containers, tools, fuel – and all kinds of vital things that keep our work going.
If you’d like some free seeds or a chat. We’re also at Book Cycle Beech Hill for their Eco Vegan and Wellbeing Fayre on 18th March from 11 am.
We have our usual packets of free wildflower seeds and, hopefully, some seed bombs, bird feeders and cute little containers.
At the fayre, there’ll be kid’s activities, food, plenty of stalls and more.
